LOVE THIS PLACE!
by moniquetk
Yummy, Yummy, Yummy!!
My family and I LOVE this place. The nachos are incredible, the chicken flautas equally good, great burgers, waffle fries are nummy too. The SW Fiesta Chicken Salad - one of my favorites. Husband loves the chicken fried steak, the chicken strips are my son's favorites, my daughter orders kid-sized nachos (tho not listed on the kids menu - just ask for "Callie's Nachos - they will know!) Perfect place to head after the zoo - it's right around the corner! I personally can't wait for summertime to sit outside on the patio and have a freshly made strawberry marguarita!
- Pros: Great food
- Cons: Hard to get to - but well worth it!
great atmoshere
by rpasker
The western decor is exceptional. This venue is easily accessible from either Schols , I 5 or downtown .Nice patio on warm evenings. The food fare is tasty and generous. Their bar is cozy & uncrowded ,they turnout exceptional cocktails.Great stop off after day @zoo or Washington park.
Unpretentious, comfortable, and NOT a NW groupie bar
by BloggerPhi
Ever get tired of those expensive, plastic bars downtown and in NW? Reds might be a good change. Great prices on weekend day-long happy hours, but without the crowds. You can actually have a conversation! The restaurant is family oriented, but I prefer the bar. All the peanuts you can manage, and feel free to wing the shells on the floor. The bartenders have always been great (but the service is not always fully aware). Hearty menu with good value.
- Pros: casual ambience, southwestern style; good people; prices ok; out of the way
- Cons: service at times; prices seem to be going up over time;
Great summertime patio
by MountainCat
I really enjoy this restaurant. It's casual, good food and fun atmosphere especially on the patio when it's warm. My favorite thing is that they are great about customizing your food so you get it the way you want it (for me that's adding grilled mushrooms to everything!). And I love Charlie!! She's wonderful - I always go in when she's working. I definitely recommend this place.
- Pros: Food, Management
- Cons: Smoky in bar
Great Variety!

We come here a lot and really enjoy the food/atmosphere. The food is pretty fairly priced and portions are plenty large, enough to fill up on and still take some home. It's usually fairly slow, which is nice because the service is great! I always run into the bar (if we're not already sitting there) and say hi to Charlie--she's always happy to see us! This place is definitely worth a visit...or two!!
uninspiring menu, but adequate food
by ebmace
An uninspiring menu, but the southwestern decor is cute. A few too many beer company and lottery advertisements to be considered a "good family place"
Children's menu was reasonably priced (3-4 dollars), but lacking in healthy options and didn't offer any of the southwestern food choices from the adult menu in child portions. Options included typical grilled cheese, cheeseburger, corn dog, etc.
Chili was decent but be forewarned, quite spicy according to my father-in-law. Taco and fajitas platters were of hearty proportions, but basically served cold (lettuce, cheese, tortilla, tomatoes apparently came right from the bag in the fridge). The pico de gallo was fresh and quite spicy/tasty. Side salad fresh but seemed to be just from a bag.
The place was baron on a Wednesday night before the Thanksgiving holiday. The waiter was very attentive.
It's possibly that we'd go back some day since it's not far from our home, but only if we had a coupon since the prices were a little steep for the quality of food. There are better SW restaurants out there.
p.s. The editorial review suggests going to the patio to escape the country music inside, but then you'd have to contend with the HWY 26 traffic noise which is a stones-throw away from the patio.
- Pros: decor is cute
- Cons: unexciting menu, taco/fajitas served cold, too many advertisement posters
Don't go to that place!
by kullike
We ordered to our kids hot chocolate and it was brought to my 2y old with a straw. He tried to drink it and burned his mouth pretty bad. My husband and I tried it as well and sure enough it was really HOT! When we talked to the manager she didn't apologize for once and started blaming us for ordering it to our kids. All we wanted to hear that she is sorry for what happened and that in the future they will be serving them with a caution. Then, after 10 minutes of trying to make sense out of this event, we left by paying the whole meal (we had almost $100 bill!) and all she offered is to take off the hot chocolate. I have NEVER seen someone so rude in restaurant business... I used to be a manager for a big restaurant as well and I/we would have never treated our customers so badly! If you ever dare to go there, be aware of that place! The food and drinks were tasty but I will not go back there ever again.
Herds of cowboys and cowgirls flock in for hefty American fare.

In Short
A popular chain restaurant with heavy Southwestern flair. Potted cacti and booths of Mayan blanket upholstery demand to be noticed, while other parts of the room are intimate and dark. For crunchy starters, the thick-cut, beer battered onion rings, or crispy, bite-size fried mushrooms are good choices. Highly favored are the baskets of smoky, baby back ribs, lightly charred and juicy. Top it all off with a milkshake in a tin glass.
