Best place to shop

Excellent customer service! Working with Nordstrom customer service and management is nothing short of a great experience!
Legendary service, shoes to die for and fashion-forward merchandise keep shoppers returning.

In Short
Founded as a Seattle shoe store in 1901, this popular chain is now known for manageably priced designer duds. Shoppers find a hint of sophistication in the store's white floors and pianists on baby grands. Unique departments include the Brass Plum juniors' section with Ruby Rox and Diesel, and Studio 121 for career-savvy women. A business-centric men's clothing department offers Ben Sherman suits, while relaxed styles from Marc Jacobs and Lacoste are in The Rail department.
Awesome MAC makeup

I only go to Nordstrom for the MAC cosmetics, but the employees are very helpful. To think that people who work at these kind of stores are snobby, but they actually take their time to help me out.
- Pros: Great customer service, great selection
- Cons: Most item are sold out quickly
The only place to buy designer fragrances. Pleasant staff
by kerrilyn
I recently went into Nordstrom at Washington Square for my annual birthday treat and was treated like a star. I must have smelled 15 fragrances before selecting one and was not rushed in anyway and was given excellent customer service with a smile. I left feeling like a princess. I have found that Nordstrom is the place to go for designer perfumes, they have a greater selection than Macy's and you can even get a sample of a fragrance you would like to try (none available at Penney's). I have attended their fragrances festivals twice and think that these are lots of fun as well. Special thanks to Sally at the Lloyd center for her personal service.
- Pros: Friendly staff
- Cons: Wish the fragrance festival would return to its previous grandeur. (i.e. Champagne & cheeses at a hotel)
MAC = Slow Service All The Time

MAC at Nordstrom really needs an overhaul. I have stopped buying most of their products because you have to fight your way to the counter. I unfortunately rely on their foundation which forces me to get my riot gear on and hold my breath while I squeeze between a million kids just to make a purchase. I must have stood there for 20 minutes, patiently waiting and already knowing what I wanted. Still no one helped me, although I got plenty of glances in between chatty conversations down the counter. Order your makeup online and avoid the BS.
- Pros: Good selection
- Cons: Too crowded, snooty employees
Service

For over ten years, I have felt that the vast majority of Nordstrom employees at Washington Square are young, bored, simple-minded, and spoiled. They act as if they are doing you a favor if they wait on you, and could at a moment's notice quit...for they have money, either from living at home, or having "gotten a Rich One" and they are the wife or toy of some wealthy man.
Service? Well, if they can stop talking to gossiping to one another, or trying to catch the eye of a man who might be a "good catch" e.g. Wealthy, they will saunder over to you...eventually, most of the time. Product knowledge? Please, most of these 20's or 30's only know what they are wearing.
The store manager be it a He or a She must be totally weak, spineless, ineffective as it gets, for year after year, while the faces change like the seasons, the "servie" and "product knowledge" are what one would expect for minimum wage....
Pathetic. Bored wives and "kept' women with nothing much to do, but appear to be working
- Pros: In a major shoppingn center, lots of parking room
- Cons: Product knowledge, service, attitude similar to be found in WalMart.....
Not what you expect from Nordstrom

In every city I've lived, Nordstrom is one of my go-to's for shoe sales and edgier clothes. Unfortunately, I can't say the same about this one. The shoe department is lackluster, particularly the Salon section which I typically rely on for all the best designer labels. It's jammed into a tiny corner between jewelry and the main shoe section. (Sorry, those tacky Stuart Weitzman shoes don't signal "designer" to me.) And forget about the clothes. With the exception of one teensy section, there's nothing hip about Nordstrom. Even Nordstrom's legendary customer service is lacking at this location. Salespeople are nowhere to be found, and when you do track one down, they are clueless about their inventory and service in general.
- Pros: Easy parking, Great return policy
- Cons: Terrible merchandise, Poor customer service
Overpriced Small Selection

There aren't very many brands of shoes. When they have those catchy sales the shoes that are actually on sale I wouldn't even give to my blind grandmother as a gift!
Nordstroms is Overated!
by perfection72
I feel Nordstrom's is overrated. They never have anything edgy nor are they ever ahead of the fashion curve. They are just a typical department store that never has anything unique. To find great shoes, you need to go to independent shoe stores.
