Decent food, setting. Sub par service
by Hamburglar55
Went here for the third time, which in all fairness is when people should be writing reviews. Service has always been kind of slow and inattentive. I was seated outside on a rare sunny April day and we had to wave down a server after sitting for ten minutes. Food is pretty good however, contrary to what I've read. Calzones are awesome, burgers are pretty good too.
- Pros: Good food, setting
- Cons: Service
Love this place
by CSMobileUser
I love this pub. It has great home made beers as well as great drinks. The food is not great so don't go hungry. It is more of a spot to have a drink at.
Good beer, decent food
by pwndcake
I lived next door to this pub for almost 18 months. During that time I went there as often as 5 times a week. I've recently moved back to the area, and although I'm not going there as often as I used to, I still get a hunger for their reuben sandwiches, and their beers. The food isn't great, but their beers are tasty and they usually serve satisfying pub food (fried snacks, pizzas, and some good sandwiches). I've never had a problem with the service, and only occasionally with the food (the goat cheese pizza comes to mind. i won't order that again). In fact, I think I've got a craving for a reuben right now.
- Pros: Fun, easy going atmosphere. Good beer. Affordable.
AWFUL food
by keller0083
My husband and I just went to the Old Market Pub for dinner. The service was horrible and the food was even worse. I ordered a blackened chicken salad and the chicken was seriously burned. I still have the horrible taste in my mouth from only two bites. I had my husband try it as well to make sure I wasn't being picky and he agreed that it was horrific and suggested I push the salad off to the side and share his.
The server never asked once how our food was (even though it was obvious that I wasn't eating my salad) and was not friendly at all.
I am not a picky eater and I understand that "blackened" chicken usually has a little charred look and taste to it, but this meat was so burned that it didn't taste anything like chicken.
If you are planning on a night out, save your money and go somewhere else! I'll be having Triscuits at home for dinner to make up for the crappy salad I paid nearly $10.00 for.
Waitress screamed at us because we didn't tip enough!
by neilfamily
Worst service I have ever experienced. My husband and his best friend use to visit almost weekly. We went in and had horrible service and left a small tip. Our food was cold, waitress was rude and it took forever. As we were walking out to the car our waitress came out and started screaming profanities at us about how we were cheap $%^ing @#$^@%'s ect ect. I was in tears because of this brutal attack.
I proceeded to call the management and was told "what do you want me to do about it? and "Are you asking for a free meal?" No I was just seeking an apology. Don't spend your money at a place that doesn't care how you are treated. I will never set food in this restaurant and hope that you will spend your money some where else.
- Pros: Parking, Atomosphere
- Cons: SERIVCE!
The food made me ill.
by fantcypantz
I was here for a luncheon meeting. The glasses were dirty, the tables were dirty (with a sticky film all over them). The Caesar salad I ordered made me ill in less than an hour, and by the time I got home 5 hours later, I was throwing up and in bed sick as a dog. This was not the flu. I will not eat there again.
- Pros: No waiting to be seated during lunch
- Cons: Dirty environment.
Bad attitude disguised as a friendly neighborhood spot
by Erik821
I remember when the place first opened. I grew up in Garden Home in the 70's and 80's so I'm very familiar with the location. It used a be a friendly place with good (if not great) food and excellent courteous service. Now? Not so much. Not even close, actually. Oddly, we still occasionally go, mostly because it's close and convenient. It's never our first choice. The waitresses all seem impatient and bored these days, often bordering on bitchy. Our waitress last night was this frumpy little twentysomething who was not at all interested in smiling or checking in on us even after (a different) waitress brought out our overpriced salads and hamburgers. She was quick to the bill, though. The icing on the whole experience was when I inquired about the tomatoes and if they were local. My wife is pregnant and there has been a recent tomato scare. She came back 10 minutes later and chuckled the answer, "Mexico". "What so funny?" I said. "We don't know where our tomatoes are from" was her reply. Whatever. We almost left then and there but were tired and had already eaten at Seasons and Regions three times that week anyway so we decided to just eat and go.
Terrible service, odd corporate/chain restaurant feel, everything is a la carte ($$), and the food is just o.k. Non-present ownership makes it difficult to voice concerns as they happen. Would not reccommend as there are better options nearby. A shame, really
- Pros: Always an available seat
- Cons: Terrible attitude among waitstaff
Giving it a try
by starmoon
I have to admit that I haven't eaten here. However, I *have been* a server, and I do live in the neighborhood. My friends and I are planning to go here this weekend, so I checked out the Citysearch reviews. "afi2001" really galls me, specifically, this comment: "When all was properly and politely explained she asks me what she could do to fix the problem - as if it was MY RESPONSIBILITY to resolve the issue with HER RESTAURANT." Um, hold the heck on. If you're really hard to please (you had to wait for mustard? Then 5 minutes for a manger? Come on), and a manager comes to your table (not required) to ask what she can do (since obviously you're having a meltdown), she's doing it because she's TRYING TO HELP YOU. Listening to you rant won't help her ameliorate your obvious problems; hearing what would make you happy MIGHT actually do the trick.
- Pros: Location, beer, service
- Cons: None apparent
Great Litlle Neighborhood Brew Pub!!

It's everything you want in a local, tiny, little brewpub!! Food was decent, Service was fine. The Beer was good!! Great place for after work or Meet some friends for some pints. Has pool room seperated from main dining area. Had a great Chile' Beer here once. Yeah Baby I said Chile' Beer!! Good with Mexican Style foods!
- Pros: They make there own Beer!!
- Cons: There's only one location
Great Service! Good food! Wonderful family atmosphere!

2008! Read a number of reviews from 2004 or so and was discouraged. But went tonight in 2008 and we had great service! Hostess seating us went and got our drinks right away! Lots of attention from our server. Had a picky order put in and it came out just perfect! Good food! No wait, no problem, and this was a SATURDAY night! No problem!
