Best Gyro's
by fragata
I went with some friends for dinner and stayed for dancing. We had a blast! The girls are hot! The food was good too! We ate in what we were told was the new dining room. It was very nicely done and the patio was just the perfect spot, especialy now that the sun has finally made an apperance. I had the snitzel and it was excelent. One person had the Gyro and Greek salad, (says it was the best gyro he's had) and another had the chicken marsala. The service was good. The restaurant was not very full and my guess is the hot weather. The dancing is in another room and it didn't get very busy until around 11pm. (we were told that the hot weather seemed to keep the people away til later in the evening) All in all it was a great evening and we look forward to going again next weekend.
- Pros: Have your meal and late night fun in one place
I do not recommend this place

I was not impressed with this place. At all. The service was average and the food was below average. I had the Italian combination plate and the steak was so incredibly bland. I'd say this was the worst steak I've ever had. I went here with a large group and one of the people in our group ordered the spaghetti and she didn't hardly eat any of her plate. She said her food was bland and said out loud to herself "how do you screw up spaghetti?" Our waitresses messed up our order twice...once for when she brought out everyone's salad and once when she brought out the entrees. Granted we had 10 people in our party so to mess up the order during one part of a meal is somewhat understandable...but twice is a real problem. When the entrees came out, it took her at least 10 minutes to bring all our entrees which was a problem for us since we all waited to eat until everyone got their food. This place serves both Greek and Italian food and I'd suggest they stick to one or the other, probably Greek based on the name of their restaurant. A no-no for an Italian restaurant is to serve the bread with butter instead of olive oil, which of course is what they did. Also, the bathrooms were ugly and not updated at all. They say you can tell a lot about a restaurant, especially around cleanliness, based on their bathrooms. There are two sinks in the men's room and one of them the hot water didn't even work and very little soap came out of the dispenser. Kind of makes you wonder how clean the workers hands are if they use these same restrooms. That all said, it's VERY unlikely I will ever eat here again.
Great place for locals...

I live about a mile away from Santorini. On the weekdays you can find a happy hour crowd consisting of friendly 'regulars'. On the weekends, it becomes a popular and crowded dance club offering a vast array of music and culture. The bartenders are welcoming and happy hour prices are GREAT!!!! They just recently got a huge projection screen TV, where I will be watching Superbowl 07. Free food, and cheap drinks!! What more can I ask???
- Pros: Great Prices,Friendly Staff
A good place for frown ups.

The seafood florentine is wonderful, and my wife loves the schnitzel .
The service can be a little slow or if you will relaxed depending on your point of view.
I think of it as relaxed.
I have never been in the bar, but the saganaki in the dining room is pretty tasty.
The atmosphere is good, and its a reasonable place to teach the children how to eat in public.
We eat there at least once a month.
- Pros: I like the food and the dining room atmosphere
- Cons: service is usually ok, but can be just a little slow
Edible if you like bar food and buffets, but not really Greek

We get the entertainment book every year as a way of cheaply trying out new restaurants. Some are real winners, some are not. There is a lounge attached to the place and with the exception of one other couple we were the only diners. Two words: deep-fried spankopites. Though the filling was somewhat tasty this was obviously the bar version of this meal/appetizer. For those of you who enjoy a good deep-fried mozzerella cheese stick, these are for you. We waited 45min for our meal. With only one other couple dining. That in and of itself is rather ridiculous. Apparantly bar munchies take precedence. But we waited, because we had a real hankering for Greek food, and you never really know until you taste the food. VERY greasy. The vegetables, rice, and the meat on both of our entrees were saturated in oil. Not olive oil either. The "bed of spinach" my chicken came on was a scoop of the spankopites filling. The garlic mashed potatoes of my fiance were instant. While the vegetables had a steamed quality in tenderness, they too were drenched in oil. Again, not even olive oil. The bread basket contained days old Italian bread. The sign advertising a buffet coming soon should have been the first warning. A restaurant, yes, a greek restaurant, NO. The food is, at best, a dumbed down, Americanized version of Greek cuisine.
- Pros: The waiter was very friendly.
- Cons: Bad food, smell of smoke from the bar.
Wonderful Greek cuisine, friendly service, uncrowded.

This Greek restaurant is wonderful and underappreciated. It used to be just a nightclub, so I guess folks (even Citysearch) don't know that it is a Greek restaurant, with an extensive menu of Greek (and American) food. Its location makes it not very visible from the main roads in the area, and it is oddly uncrowded, given the quality food. The tzasiki is great, gyros are fine, and spanakopita is good, too. The service I have had there has always been fine and very friendly. The owner was professional and courteous, also. There is a bar in back of the restaurant with pool tables and karaoke, and folks there are friendly, too.
- Pros: Extensive Greek menu, friendly service
- Cons: Location makes it hard to see from the main road.
Worst Dining Experience
by jldr
In the 9 years my wife and I have lived in Portland, the evening we spent at Santorini West was the worst dining experience we can remember. The service was horrid. There was one waiter who spent his time washing glasses or chatting with the bartender instead of doing his job (or getting yelled at by his manager). The food arrived barely warm. My wife's Oso buco, which is supposed to be so tender it falls off the bone, was like shoe leather. To cap the night off, I literally had to chase the waiter down to get my bill. If I hadn't, I'm afraid we'd still be there.
- Cons: overpriced, poor service, poor quality food
Excellent night out....

I really found Santorini to have a great atmosphere...it reminds me of being in Greece...nice paintings and decor. They have live music and dancing...it was really a lot of fun! The food was excellent, at reasonable prices...I didn't have anything bad to say.
- Pros: Good food, Romantic, Good parking
- Cons: None
Where's Waldopolous?

I 've enjoyed lunch at this location many times. Good food, service and atmosphere at a great price. I didn't understand why the restaraunt was nearly empty! that is until I went for dinner. Everything was lovely, warm and festive until we overheard the boss screaming at someone, as in the previous viewer rating. I was embarrassed for the waiter, who had been wonderful and apologetic. My suggestion? Call and see if the manager is in. If he isn't, I fully reccomend it. If he is, and you have a taste for voyeurism, come on in. Selfishly, a restaraunt close by with a full bar and fireplace, steak, seafood etc., is alluring enough for another go.
- Pros: value, warm service, not crowded
- Cons: MANAGER
Diners Beware of Owner
by dawgthecat
In what could have been an excellent dining experience was quickly turned into a disaster. My friends and I were conversing in the bar area of the restaurant. What appears to have been either the owner or the manager was chewing out the belly dancer for the night. In front of several customers this "man" bellowed out obscene comments to the very entertainment that we came to see. I heard him refer to her as dirt beneath his feet and not worthy of dancing. It was a quick end to what could have been a great beginning. I could never recommend this restaurant to anyone who has ever cared remotely about manners, professionalism and most of all treating women with dignity and respect. Good food or not, this place sucks.
- Cons: Management, Treatment of employee
