Re: IT AIN'T WHAT IT USED TO BE
by photoblaster at Citysearch
After writing this review, the next day (Sunday) I called and talked to Michelle, the owner and told her of my experience. She was speechless, and to use her words, 'horrified', of my experience. She was VERY apologetic, and couldn't understand how I'd had such a 'horrible' experience, and offered me a very generous gift certificate. I told her I didn't call for that reason, but to inform her, as I'd been a business owner and always appreciated any negative feedback, as well as good. Though this was over the phone, I could tell in her voice, there aren't enough words in the English language to describe how badly she felt, and how heartfelt her apologies were. She was very sincere, and literally begged me to let her send me a gift certificate and to please give them another chance, stating that they STILL serve excellent burgers. I relinquished, and just as she promised, yesterday I received it in the mail. I will use it and write another review, based on that experience. I'm looking forward to it, as I DO remember how good it was previously.

the first time i went to the skyline they were closed. i was with a friend. we had (apparently the word ess eee ex isn't allowed) in his car in the parking lot. a few months later when another friend of mine suggested we go to a place called the skyline for burgers and milkshakes...how could i refuse? i had never been...this place is so vaguely familiar. could it be?

c'mon. ... in the backseat of a car after midnight in the parking lot of an old diner that makes the BEST chocolate malts in town?
yummy cheeseburgers! amazing milkshakes and when the waitress forgot to charge us we didn't split because it isn't polite to dine and dash.
okay sure: i wish they were open until 10 or 11pm. it's summertime in the city...
- Pros: definitely pros when it comes to making chocolate malts!
- Cons: i don't know. ex-cons? yeah sure. stay open until late during the summer!

I order the giant cheeseburger and onion rings every time. I have to say, I have to been impressed. It's not worth the inconvenience to get there. I'm noticing more and more that Portlanders would not know tasty food if it hit them in the smacker!
- Pros: Very filling!
- Cons: Poor Parking, Expensive, Not too tasty
Cheesy

I had read only good things, but tried it myself and was not impressed. My burger was okay the way any fast food chain is okay. Burgerville is better. My roommate's salad came complete with half a slice of American Cheese on top, which is just cheap. His Fish and Chips were nothing but frozen fish sticks. Maybe I'll go back to try a shake, but the food ain't worth the trip.
Over-priced

I thought, after readint the reviews here, to give 'em a try. Lots of good things going on there. Help was marvelous. Service was average. Burger was on the puny side and a bit under-cooked. Plopped onto a cold ceramic plater without benefit of any kind of garnish. "side-of-fries" came on another cold ceramic plate. A 6 ounce glass of tea @ $1.25 just sealed my opinion. No matter how good the service, or the food, the prices suck. A cafeteria style meal at gourmet prices. I ate alone and the tab was over $10, including the tip.
- Pros: Taste, Attitude, Friendly
- Cons: Price, Portion, Presentation
