very nice
by vampshar at Citysearch
wonderful new store. i havr never seen so many appliances set up and operating. they had chefs cooking and lots of samples while we shopped. we went in on a saturday so it was busy, but our salesman gave us enough time along with helping other people to make a good decision. we never felt pressured which was so nice compared to the other places we went, which were either very high pressure or ignored us completely. our salesman, ernie, narrowed all our choices down in a logical manner after asking many questions. this was better than trying to decide which of thousands of products were right for us. i will be back when i need more
- Pros: choices,samples,knowledgeable salesman
- Cons: almost too many choices
We got a pretty good deal at the warehouse sale, but...
by Servo at Citysearch
This one is hard to give a star rating, so take that with a grain of salt.
We needed a 24" double wall oven, and initially went to the showroom on 82nd, not realizing the hugely advertised warehouse sale was a bit down the road. The KitchenAid that we wanted was $2500, the best the saleswoman said she could do for us was $2200, way out of our budget. While there, we found out about the warehouse sale, and asked her about it; she said she'd already checked, and that the oven we wanted was not there, giving us the impression (I know, very subjective) that we'd be wasting our time going there. We told her we were going to go look anyway, and she seemed a bit bummed.
It was a madhouse at the sale, but my girlfriend immediately found the exact model we were looking for, priced at $900... Done! Checking out, we paid the $50 for home delivery. My back isn't always in the best shape, so we asked to make sure that meant they would deliver it INSIDE our house. After speaking with a manager, we were assured that that was in fact the case. A few days later, when the delivery arrived, the guys said that they were only to deliver to our driveway, and had we paid $100, they would've taken it inside. Not that big of a deal, but not what we were told, either.
Overall, a basically positive experience, but you have to be on your toes if you want to get a good deal, and there's a bit of slipperiness here and there.
A few days after delivery, we had a professional come to install, and after five hours (work had to be done on the wall opening and support), we were very disappointed to find that the oven didn't work at all. Wouldn't even light up the digital readouts. We called both Standard and KitchenAid, and being leary of Standard at this point, went with the KitchenAid repairman, who would be able to come by in five days. The most interesting info we got from the astonished KitchenAid rep was that the oven we had just purchased as brand-new on 10/3/09 was a 2003 model!
The repairman from A&E Factory Service was amazing, and he immediately ascertained that the oven was missing a much-needed transformer. Luckily for us, he had one on his truck, and after a quick install, the oven worked like a charm. He also let us know that even though it was almost 7 years old, it had never been used, and it was a great model as far as reliability, which was a big relief.
And so far, so good on the oven; would we have purchased it if it had a tag letting us know it was a 2003 model? I don't know, but probably not, and I still feel a little ripped off.
They sell defective appliances, and then lie to you about it
by gotrippedoffbystandard at Citysearch
Our fridge was defective when it was delivered. It made horrible noises, they told me it was "normal". Yet they sent someone out to fix it. Hmm why would they fix a "normal" appliance? I felt they did not take me seriously, and they did not fix it. Its after 4 am, and the "normal" fridge woke me up. I was in the next room, sleeping next to a snoring husband (he won a snoring constest last year he is so loud) with ear plugs in, and it sounded like someone was breaking into my house. They are not a reputible company at all. They sell shoddy, broken appliances and think they can get away with it. Save your money, and save yourself time and frustration and shop ANYWHERE but this place! If it were possible to give a negative star rating, I would do it.
- Pros: one customer service lady was nice
- Cons: Delivered a defective fridge and lied about it.
poor service comments are correct

If you need to get something repaired avoid Standard. Unless you don't mind vague time frames, if they are unsure if they have the part the day the repair is scheduled, having the service person bring a broken part, and a high price. This has happened twice so I will probably avoid Standard when I am looking for new appliances and not just ehrn I need something repaired.
Bad Customer Service and Caused Major Damage to My Home
by Kennede at Citysearch
I have never received worse customer service, Standard TV and Appliance staff took over six months to fix my oven because they continually ordered the wrong part, failed to show up for service calls etc. My washer and dryer were also installed incorrectly and caused a flood in my home that resulted in having to have all the flooring removed and replaced. The customer service has routinely been lacking, staff has been rude, failed to return phone calls, and had no regard for the damage they caused to my new home. I can not say it enough; never buy from Standard TV and Appliance, they are a headache to work with and don't stand behind the products they sell.
- Cons: Customer Serivce
Hell on earth

I wish I read these reviews before I wasted my time going there. I went to standard on 11/23/07 where I purchased a washer/dryer combo, where the sales guy was as helpful as the tags they have on the appliances. They delivered them on the 24 which was nice but when I went to run my first set of laundry through the dryer it just hummed then started smoking.
I called them immediately on Monday requesting a replacement, the worthless employee on the phone said that is impossible and needs to send a technician out on THURSDAY! I threw a fit and they send someone out that evening. Their technician said that I just bought them and should just have it replaced. So I called at 8 Tuesday morning getting Linda?s voicemail leaving a message and not hearing back I called back at 9 getting Heathers voicemail and leaving another message, I tried again at 10 getting Linda?s voicemail again, finally at 11 I called requested a store manager where once again they took my name and number and said they would call back imagine that never called. So finally I had to drive all the way back to the store and wait for a hour for someone to help. Funny too their hold message says ?we know your time is valuable we will help you right away!?
Never! Never! Never! Again will I ever go there again even if everything is free.
Heed my words it will be your worst experience!
- Pros: The prices are OK but not worth what I went through.
- Cons: Everything this is the worst ran business I know of.
Poor customer service

I would suspect that whoever posted "the new Beaverton store is great" is from the store, because I sure as heck haven't heard good things about Standard, and my own experiences would confirm it. I've tried to buy a dishwasher and a flat screen TV from that same "Beaverton store" and both times I was largely ignored by the staff, who were either chatting on the phone with friends or chatting with each other. In three visits I only got a salesman to pay attention to me once, and he left me after about 5 minutes to greet a newly arrived customer. Apparently that customer was spending more money (I was only buying a dishwasher and a flat screen TV), so he never came back. Even when I said I was buying right now, I was ignored. I would love to buy from a local dealer now (I need a replacement for my built-in SubZero refrigerator) because I strongly believe in supporting local guys. But I'm not going to beg them to take my money. Friends and neighbors say they've had the same experience with Standard. So....I'm hitting up Lowes, which anyway has a better warranty program. Sorry, Standard, but if you don't beef up your customer service you won't be in business much longer, I'm afraid.
- Pros: Large selection, prices appear to be good
- Cons: Customer service is so bad that nothing else really matters; rude, lazy and they don't like customers bothering them
Forget about having it repaired
by veronicaone at Citysearch
If you purchase a high end appliance here, they simply do not have the people in town how can address any problems with it, such as our $5000 Wolf dual fuel range. They sell you the product and the warranty and then you're on your own, basically, since their repair crews, are subcontracted and clueless. There is no support from Wolf either.
They do not return phone calls and refuse to acknowledge problems. The Appliance & Refrigeration hospital people are clueless. That is who comes from Standard to review and repair your appliance. They do not repair anything and they are extremely rude.
So, do not buy there and do not buy Wolf.
The new Beaverton store is great!!
by supermanfg at Citysearch
I have purchased from the old Beaverton store before-and was never unhappy, but recently I went to the new Beaverton Standard TV & Appliance and WOW! It is beautiful! There is a huge selection of appliances to choose from and great sale prices. I got the best deal on a chest freezer, which was delievered just when they said it would be (plus they took away my big old freezer for free). Everything was all set up and all the packaging was taken away. Everyone I worked with from the salesman to the clerk staff to the delivery men were friendly and helpful.
In the new store there are sample kitchens that show how things look together...and there are chefs that teach cooking classes right there. I came away with some great new cooking ideas as well as my freezer.
I was impressed with the sales staff's knowledge about electronics... I looked at BOSE and LD equipment and the salesmen explained a lot about the home theater components. I know where I'll be making my next purchase of TV and sound equipment.
The new store is near Cedar Hills Crossing so it's really convenient--and their prices are mostly better than Best Buy, Home Depot and Sears (I think they even match prices if they're not the lowest). It's a great place to shop for appliances, TV and sound equipment, and even really nice mattresses.
Will never do business here again!

We had previously been to Standard TV and Appliance and been totally ignored, so we had doubts going in. After recommendations from our peers we decided to give them one more shot. Oh what a mistake that was! We purchased 4 new appliances for our home - all overpriced, but they did matched Home Depot and Lowes prices. We were excited to hear they would deliver and install the appliances for only $59 - that's what the sales person spilled to us anyway. Apparently they don't install gas appliances! Our sales person, Manrique Leon, was well aware of this fact but failed to let us know. Upon the delivery/installation we quickly realized they were not going to install our gas appliances, which is very unfortunate because that was one of the main reasons we decided to purchase from them. On top of that they delivered the wrong connection kits. After speaking with a very rude manager at the 82nd store, they basically gave us the finger and told us to pick up the proper kits ourselves from one of their warehouses, being that they were out of stock in-store. We were not offered any kind of refund on the delivery/installation service and they made no effort to help us in any way for their mistakes! After this terrible experience, there's no doubt we will never do business with Standard TV and Appliance again.
- Cons: Terrible customer service. Terrible sales experience. Faulty delivery.
